Living rules
Welcome to the Colonies family! Here are some principles that will guide you to the best way to live (and enjoy) shared housing together.
Common spaces : Because we love sharing!
• Make sure you always leave the room clean and tidy. Nothing is more normal than leaving a few personal things lying around when you are at home! But generally speaking.
• Make sure you leave your personal belongings in your private space! That’s what it’s there for!
• Want to organize a party with your friends? Make sure your roommates are OK frst (and clean up afterwards!).
• Empty your waste in the bin before putting your dishes in the sink or dishwasher, food can clog the drains.
• Make sure to split shared spaces evenly amongst each other. Rules can help ensure the fridge and cupboards don’t become too messy; for instance you could stick a piece of paper with your name on the fridge shelf you intend to use.
Hours : Because we love chillin’ too
• Try not to make any noise during the «quiet hours» from 10pm to 7am. Your roommates and neighbours will be eternally grateful.
• Slippers are not mandatory, but highly recommended!
• If your party goes on until after 10pm, set an alarm clock to move the party indoors, and make sure to turn down the music and keep your voice down so as not to disturb your neighbors. Keep in mind that night-time disturbance can result in a 180€ fine.
Security : Because we care about you
• To avoid any problems, please make sure to lock all doors, windows and gates behind you.
• Colonies cannot be held responsible for any loss, theft or damage in the studios and common areas.
Ecology : Because we all have a role to play for the planet
• Be sure to turn off your lights and turn down the heaters when you are away.
• Watch your water consumption! Don’t overdo the good stuff: use the washing machine in a short cycle and run the dishwasher only when it is full, for example.
• Sort your garbage! Put your garbage in the appropriate garbage can outside the house (glass, packaging and household waste).
Guests : Because your friends are (also) welcome!
• Once you have the green light of your roommates, the doors of the house will always be open to your guests (within the limit of 2 maximum)! They will be under your responsibility.
• You can host a loved one up to 5 nights per month in your room!
Big no no’s : Because living together also means making (small) sacrifices
• For the health and wellbeing of all, no smoking indoors. Throw your cigarette butts in the outdoor garbage cans.
• Electric blankets and hot water bottles are known to cause fres. They are therefore banned from the house.
• It is strictly forbidden to enter the other rooms without authorization, whether they are empty or occupied.
